City Camp St. Petersburg

I was looking forward to a weekend off from TransportationCamping between the intensity of the NYC event and what will certainly be an equally immersive SF experience this weekend, but that was not to be. Late last week we heard from Vitaly Vlasov (@inxaoc), organizer of CityCamp St. Petersburg (#citycampspb), who invited us to participate via Skype in their own unconference on cities and data and apps and transportation. Cup of coffee in hand, I sat down in front of my webcam at 10am on Saturday and invited a bunch of thoughtful and engaged Russians into my Brooklyn apartment to talk about TransportationCamp, OpenPlans transportation software, and related topics such as American Internet censorship (?). We showed the fabulous Streetfilms video of the NYC event, looked at openplans.org/transportation and where to find our source code and developer pages, and then I took questions.
All 35 minutes of my talk and Q&A is here, but the gist is that TransportationCamp and CityCamp are spreading around the world very fast and our friends in St. Petersburg are as engaged in this as we are. There is a ton of potential for international collaboration. It will be exciting to watch over the coming months.
See you in SF.
